Through this competition, the New York Times hopes to inspire middle school students to gain insight into the world around them, to think about their place in it, and to improve their ability to communicate their ideas through writing. Only by reading a country's mainstream newspapers and magazines and understanding a series of background information, hints and metaphors in addition to literal meaning, can we truly understand the public opinion of a country.
Every Friday since the contest began (June 11, 2021), the official website will publish two same questions:
1.What interested you most in The Times this week?
2.What interests you most in the New York Times this week? Why? Why is that?
1.The review must be 250-300 words.
2.Be sure to include links or title to content from the New York Times of your choice.
